From Fresh Croissants to Finnish Saunas: The Ultimate Wellness Experience at Biohotel Bergzeit

I spent three nights at Biohotel Bergzeit in Zöblen, Austria in December with my mum and had the best time ever! The hotel was homely, friendly, warm, luxurious, and I truly felt like I was doing only good things for my wellbeing.

Our stay was such a memorable experience, combining comfort, wellness, and an eco-conscious lifestyle. Nestled amidst the beauty of the Austrian Alps, Bergzeit is an all-organic hotel that offers an idyllic retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Here's a detailed review, along with some photos from my stay as well as their website.

Homely and Luxurious Atmosphere

From the moment I arrived with my mum, the hotel exuded a warm and welcoming atmosphere that felt both luxurious and homely. We were offered champagne and Christmas cookies in the lounge, with the fireplace burning in the background and snow falling outside.

Tthe hotel has been designed with a deep appreciation for nature and sustainability in mind, creating an environment that encourages relaxation and wellbeing. From reading other reviews, I know that other guests have echoed this sentiment, highlighting the hotel's impeccable service and attention to detail that makes staying there exceptionally comfortable.

Best Dining Experience

The food at Biohotel Bergzeit was one of the highlights of our visit, it was absolutely amazing. I still remember the freshly baked croissants at breakfast (and the atmosphere - looking out onto the snow-covered mountains while having coffee, croissants, fresh fruit, sometimes a glass of sparkling wine, raw honey straight from the honeycomb, and lots of other good things).

The extensive variety of salads at the dinner buffet, which were part of the pre-course meal (like an entrée before the entrée) was another food highlight. This alone would have been an exceptional dinner.

Overall, their entire culinary selections were impressive, showcasing the hotel's commitment to organic and locally sourced ingredients. I can’t fault anything about the quality and variety of their organic-based cuisine.

Wellness and Spa Facilities

The spa area at Biohotel Bergzeit was a perfect sanctuary for rejuvenation. The Finnish sauna and infrared sauna were a soothing escape from the cold Winter air outside, complemented by a thoughtful selection of organic teas, fruits, and nuts to energize in between sauna sessions.

While there is no pool, and at first I thought this might be a bit of an issue, it’s actually not a big deal at all once you’re there. You can easily spend a few hours just using the saunas and steam room, and I promise you won’t even miss having a pool. Seriously, time passes so quickly when you’re switching off and relaxing, and next thing you know it’s time for dinner.

This aspect of the hotel was something I particularly appreciated, aligning with my personal goals for wellness and self-care during the stay. Again, the quality of the spa facilities and the overall emphasis on health and wellness can be felt everywhere.

Exploring Zöblen and Surrounding Areas

While Zöblen itself may have limited attractions outside of winter sports (honestly, the town/village itself isn’t that great), the hotel's location is perfect for hiking and appreciating the natural beauty of the region.

It’s also located incredibly well if you’re into winter sports and want direct access to ski slopes and cross-country routes. There’s a ski slope literally right outside the hotel.

Conclusion

Biohotel Bergzeit in Zöblen is a true gem if you’re looking for a blend of luxury, sustainability, wellness and health. The service was absolutely amazing, the food was delicious, and the wellness opportunities left me feeling like my health was improving by the minute.

Whether you're there for the winter sports or just to unwind in a beautiful setting, Biohotel Bergzeit is so worth staying at! I really don’t have anything to fault; I would return any day! Actually, I already can’t wait to go back (maybe next time during Spring or Summer?).
